Autres informations
Significant progress towards the implementation of Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety and Target 17 of Kumming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework has been made namely the approval of advanced drafts the complementing rules, guidelines and manuals on handling of application for activities with LMOs, risk assessment and management, inspection, monitoring of effect of LMOs on Environment, emergency measures, socio economic considerations, biosafety communication strategy and communication strategy for gene editing. There are also two full functional laboratory for LMO detection which passed regional inter-laboratory proficiency testing.
However, deficiencies in human resources and facilities hinder effective implementation of the Protocol, coupled with a lack of funding specifically directed towards biosafety activities related to Biosafety. management. Despite progresses in terms of infrastructure (2 laboratories), their geographical distribution still does not meet the country needs. Another notable weakness in the implementation of the CPB is the incipient risk assessment framework that cover that socio-economic consideration and their monitoring, as well as weak communication channels. Regarding monitoring, it is necessary to strengthen the national biosafety framework by proving adequate human, facilities, equipment and financial resources, including procedures to ensure its effectiveness.

There were some difficulties in addressing questions with yes or no answers, without the possibility of other options. Our reality does not fit the approach previously presented. There is a need to include other answer alternatives in order to objectively capture the actual pictures of the Parts.
